About the Event

Integrating Kinesiology Tape and Floss Into A Clinical Toolbox

The simple goal of the Rocktape essentials course is to “demystify“ the use of kinesiology tape and compression floss bands and introduce the clinician to the strategic application of two powerful clinical tools. Therapists will develop an intuitive understanding of the efficacy of kinesiology tape and floss bands as adjunct tools to complement any manual therapy practice. Pain mitigation and movement optimization are two primary goals for any manual therapist. The addition of kinesiology tape and floss lends itself to the effective management of pain and refinement of motor control.

The skin is really a megaphone for the brain. Applying tape and other afferent tools to this wonderfully responsive and adaptive neuro-fascial platform allows us an opportunity to refine input and ultimately retool output. By tapping into the brain through the skin and fascial platform, we have the ability to create a window of opportunity for the patient to experience pain free movement.

The presentation is an evidence informed kinesiology tape and floss session that will advance the massage therapist’s understanding of the science and efficacy of both applications as performance and rehabilitation tools that can serve to mitigate pain, improve fluid dynamics and sharpen proprioception. Move. Live. Perform.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will develop an understanding of the physiological effects of tape and floss applications
  • Therapists will develop a critical appreciation for the adaptable, neuroplastic nature of the neuro-fascial system
  • Participants will understand the unique mechanical effects of tape and floss on the underlying fascia and connective tissue
  • Participants will have the opportunity to refine their competencies in applying the two tools through practical, hands-on applications
